Big Span Structures was awarded the contract to design and build a tensile membrane food and beverage pavilion at the new Sarasota Bayfront project. This unique canopy structure will incorporate two different roofing systems. The top side of the tensile membrane structure will utilize a single layer transparent ETFE film with reinforcement cables and mirrored in surface area closely underneath will be a series of translucent diamond shaped white PVC mesh panels. These PVC Mesh panels will feature catenary cables edges for attachment to the structure. The sun will pass through the transparent fritted ETFE film while the filtered sunlight would then pass through the translucent PVC mesh, casting a grid of shadow patterns on the ground and adjacent stone buildings.
