Sawgrass Mills Mall

Birdair, Inc., who designed and built the original fabric roofing system back in the mid/late 90s at the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sawgrass, FL, was contracted to replace the tensile membrane roofing system over the central courtyard areas. Birdair subcontracted Big Span Structures to provide fabrication services for the PTFE membrane main fabric panels and PTFE closure work. Fabricated at Big Span’s Guadalajara manufacturing facility, the total combined surface area of the fabricated cone-shaped PTFE-coated fiberglass membrane provided by Big Span was approximately 30,800 sqft. Installation of the new PTFE fabric membrane roof was completed by Birdair in the spring of 2020.
