Liberty Science Center Dino Dig Adventure

Big Span Structures completed the new Liberty Science Center Dino Dig Adventure tensile membrane structure in Jersey City, New Jersey. Liberty Science Center’s intent was to create a permanent outdoor dinosaur dig exhibition set within three naturalistic rockscape pools, which house replicated fossils concealed by sand. Two of the three pools of the simulated paleontological dig area are covered by a permanent open-air PTFE canopy roofing system with an approximate plan area of 2,750 sqft. Big Span’s scope included design, engineering, fabrication, supply, and installation of the PTFE membrane, steel support structure, cables, and clamping/hardware, with completion in December 2019.
