Part of a $1 Billion redevelopment of the downtown Greenville County Square project spanning over 40 acres includes a new $66.8 million Greenville County Administration Building and a open-air tensile membrane roofing system over the atrium space. Featuring a sawtooth design, Big Span recently secured the design-build contract for the 7,500 square foot PTFE fiberglass membrane tensile structure. The fabric roof will provide weather and shade protection for workers and visitors passing between two 5-story administration buildings.
DPR contracted as the GC, the new 250,000 square foot County structure will replace the county's aging current headquarters and be part of the first piece of the planned $1 billion. Big Span's scope includes design, engineering, fabrication and installation of the supporting steel framing system, PTFE membrane, clamping and hardware.
